Chartersgate Villas

The site currently comprises an irregular shaped site that includes the existing residential cartilages of Ardwyn House (formerly Tresanton) and High Trees. High Trees is a detached chalet style bungalow and has a detached mono pitched outbuilding within its grounds. Ardwyn House is a large detached three storey house.

The dwellings each have a number of detached outbuildings in their grounds as well as various access drives which provide access to adjacent properties. Both houses are accessed from a private drive via the public highway (Hancocks Mount); the adopted road also serves another private road which leads to the old DeBeers Industrial Estate containing Charters, a listed building, which has recently been restored to residential use to include two new blocks of sixteen apartments, one of which dominates the eastern boundary of the site.

The site lies within, albeit on the edge of, the Green Belt with land to the north and west being part of the wider residential settlement area and therefore outside the green belt.
